Therme Bucharest – Review
Contents
This post will share a review of Therme Bucharest Spa.
For my final day in Bucharest, I decided to head down to the only place that brought me to the country in the first place.
My return flight was at 18:30 – which was delayed by an hour – so I had about half a day to spend in the spa.
Thankfully, the Bucharest airport was about ten minutes away, making it the perfect final destination.
I did the maths, and instead of buying a day ticket, which would have been a waste, I bought a 4.5-hour ticket, which was more than enough.
So, I booked my ticket online in November, fast-tracking my entry.
There was barely any queue anyway, so I went straight to the counter to check-in.
This spa has been on my wishlist for about a year now, so I have kept trying to find a way to go.
Unfortunately, there are no same-day direct return flights from Manchester, which also caused a further delay.
Due to the spa’s proximity to the airport, it’s a perfect spa day trip.
You don’t need to get to central Bucharest – as the traffic is horrendous – for any reason.
You fly in, get an Uber to the spa, spend your day there and fly back out.
It’s super straightforward.
If you prefer not to carry any robes or towels, you can make the trip with a handbag or tote bag with your swimsuit and maybe a pair of flip-flops.
Before sharing my experience, let’s learn about the spa.

Here’s What You Need To Know About Therme Bucharest
This spa has gone viral on social media in the last few months for good reason.
The Therme Group is a wellness brand that is establishing thermal resorts all over the world.
The group has secured opportunities for thermal spas across multiple continents in the last couple of years.
So far, Therme Bucharest is the pioneering one.
Therme will be launching in the UK next year in Manchester, and I honestly cannot wait.
But I should visit Bucharest first to experience it before it launches in Manchester.
Therme Bucharest started operations in 2016, and I honestly cannot believe I didn’t hear about it till it went viral last year.
Therme Bucharest Structure

To ease navigation, the spa is split into three sections:
- Palm
- Galaxy
- Elysium
This helps to categorise the various attractions based on your needs.
But from my experience, these sections are primarily crucial for the tickets.
Despite being separated, they are all somewhat merged into one another.
You can walk to a different part of the building if you want a specific attraction.
Also, some of the offerings overlap each other.
This means that you can get similar experiences in each section.
For instance, when I got there, I started at the Elysium, where I went straight to the dry saunas, but then it became too busy because it’s the central part of the spa from the entrance.
After a while, I just left and went towards the Galaxy, which was a lot quieter – despite being a children’s area – and had everything I needed.
While you can be strict, you should allow yourself some flexibility and try other areas.
I started with the dry saunas in the Elysium, which are too busy and moved to the Steam Baths/Wet Saunas in the Galaxy.
Either way, I enjoyed the experience.

Tickets/Pricing
The prices make Therme Bucharest incredibly attractive and worth a three-hour flight from the UK.
Compared to a standard hotel spa day in the UK, you can spend the entire day, including flights, for half the price in Therme Bucharest.
The Romanian Leu (RON) is cheaper than the Euro/GBP.
So your money goes very far.
For tickets, you have the option of:
- 3 hours – 137 LEI/€26/£22
- 4.5 hours – 161 LEI/€32/£27
- One Day – 193 LEI/€39/£32
You can also buy tickets based on the sections you want, but I recommend purchasing the Elysium ticket, which gives you access to the Palm and Galaxy.
You don’t want to be stuck in the queue for Infrared Light Therapy in Elysium when there are free spaces in the Galaxy.
If you have kids, you might want to stick to the Galaxy as they have tons of water slides and child-friendly activities.
They also have adult activities, so you don’t need to leave the area with your kids.
I recommend you buy tickets on the Therme Bucharest website to skip the queue and fast-track your entry.
It’s so much more convenient.
Recommended Attractions

Aside from missing the 1hr body massage with a therapist, I feel like I was able to try out various attractions which I can recommend.
As a rule of thumb, you must come early in the morning as the appointments get fully booked quickly.
If you can’t get a convenient appointment, try the Hydromassage Beds for 10 or 15 minutes for less than 20 Lei in the Palm or Galaxy section.
It’s not the same, but it’s better than nothing.
Other attractions worth trying include;
- Infrared Light Therapy – Elysium & Galaxy
- Amazon/Provence/Alhambra/Hollywood/Himalaya Sauna; you can go into anyone that is not too busy. – Elysium
- Tropical Rain Sauna/Herbal Essences/Rainforest Sauna – Galaxy
- Selenium & Zinc Pool – Elysium
- Outdoor Pool with Hydromassage – Palm
General Tips Before Visiting Therme Bucharest
- Book your ticket online if you can.
- Study the website to familiarise yourself with all the attractions and offerings.
- If you’re taking an Uber from the airport or central Bucharest, you will be dropped off right at the spa entrance, so there’s not much walking required.
- Try coming in the morning on a weekday (between Monday and Thursday) to avoid the busy period. I arrived around 12, and it was slightly busy, but it began to pick up when I was about to leave at 3:30 pm.
- You must bring your spa essentials, including a swimsuit, towel/robe and flip-flops. You must buy/rent at the entrance if you don’t bring them. If you’re renting, get a towel instead of a robe, as the former is required in the saunas and for certain attractions that require lying down.

During Visit
- Once you check in at the entrance, you’ll be given a wristband, which you will use to navigate the spa, particularly moving from one section to another, securing your locker and loading all your purchases.
- When you’re done for the day, you’ll check out at the entrance and pay for all your purchases, attractions and anything else you have purchased within the spa.
- I was charged 258 RON/£43, which covered renting towels and robes, buying flip flops, food, and two bottles of water, paying for tickets for the Hydromassage beds and getting a 3D posture check-up done.
- Once you check in and are given a wristband, you’ll be assigned a locker to store your belongings.
- You’ll also need to take a quick shower before entering the spa. The showers are close to the lockers as well.
- The Elysium is the busiest area, so avoid being too discouraged if it feels chaotic. I know I started to feel annoyed, but then I moved to the Galaxy, and all was well with the world again.
- There are restaurants in all sections, but Galaxy has one with a generic menu that cuts across the board.
- Ensure you take showers before entering wet or dry saunas to activate the steam quickly.
- Most pools are always very busy; you can try the heated outdoor pool in the Palm to escape the crowds.
- Although the staff say keeping your phone in a rack outside the saunas is safe, be security conscious and watch it.
In Conclusion,
Therme Bucharest was worth it; it did not disappoint, and I hope you find time to visit soon.
It’s unlike anything we have in the UK at the moment.
