EasyJet Holidays To Rhodes, Greece- Review For Solo Travellers
Contents
This post will be reviewing EasyJet holidays.
If there’s one thing a typical British person enjoys, it is a good package holiday.
It is almost part of the culture.
There’s nothing like having your flights, transfer, hotel and meals taken care of all at once.
While it might cost more than booking everything individually, the ease and comfort are unmatched.
It’s no wonder people save up years in advance for their dream holidays.
I planned to fly out to New York for my birthday, but the Canadian wildfires skyrocketed the air pollution, making me panic.
I was genuinely concerned about the health implications, especially as I’m generally healthy.
After pondering it and monitoring the whole situation, I cancelled the flight.
I felt devastated because I’ve been planning this trip since January.
Funny enough, the air quality improved by the next day.
I should have just rescheduled my trip instead of cancelling it outrightly.
The next thing was to make alternate plans.
I could process my feelings later, but at that point, I needed to find somewhere else to spend my birthday in less than 24 hours.
If there’s one thing I hate more than anything else, it is making last-minute plans.
The stress and the extra expense are honestly not worth it, so I try to plan my trips at least one month beforehand.
In a panic, I had to decide the best way to get a flight and hotel deal simultaneously at such short notice.
Shockingly, the first thing that came to mind was the EasyJet holidays.
As someone who flies the airline regularly, I was excited to hear about the launch of holiday packages.
So, I grabbed my laptop and immediately started to find options.
I wanted a new destination to console myself about the missed New York trip.
After browsing the website with my dates, I narrowed my options to Greece, Malta, and Turkey.
I hadn’t been to the former two, but I’ve had a layover at the latter.
Again, I narrowed my options further, ensuring I had a great hotel, a 10-14 minute walk to the beach.
Ultimately, I settled for Rhodes, Greece, which was not on my bingo card.
Crete was a second close choice, but I didn’t want a resort in an unknown deserted town for safety reasons.
I chose Rhodes because the hotel was close to the city centre and the Old Town.
This way, I could still explore the town on foot.
So I quickly paid for the package, after which I could finally mourn the missed trip to the US for the first time.
Funny enough, Greece was one of my first choices when planning my birthday.
So visiting Rhodes felt like a good consolation.
Now, this post will only review EasyJet holidays as a service alone.
In a subsequent post, I’ll share more details about what I got to see and do visiting Greece for the first time.

What You Need To Know About EasyJet Holidays For Solo Travellers
You’ll probably be familiar with the system if you have used package holiday companies.
If you haven’t liked me and are about to try it for the first time, you’ll find this post helpful.
So the package covers your flights, luggage, transfer and hotel.
Let’s get into it!

Flights
The only part of the package that was familiar was the flights.
I’ve boarded EasyJet a dozen times and had little to no expectations.
I checked in online as always and got my mobile boarding pass, which I used on both flights.
Aside from a minor issue with my full government name not showing on my boarding pass, I had no problem.
Luggage Allowance
As a budget traveller, I never check in luggage for any reason.
Over time, I have learned how to pack light.
But this package came with a generous 23kg allowance, which I did not need as I only went for three nights.
Still, I packaged a hefty 10kg carry-on and checked it in.
I wanted to see what the process was.
Plus, I wasn’t about to waste the free allowance.
You might wonder why I don’t take my cabin bag with me.
Well, that would have cost me extra.
Yes. I thought it was crazy, too.
All that time spent in queueing at the baggage drop could have been used for something else.
Thankfully, the queues moved quickly, so I didn’t feel it as much.
I recommend going to the airport at least three hours before if you’ll be checking in your luggage.
While I had to check in my large cabin bag, the package also allows you to bring a small backpack or handbag on board.
This is the standard allowance you would get with flights only.
As always, I grabbed my Kanken bag and stuffed it with snacks and entertainment for the four-hour flight.

Airport Transfer
I was agitated about the airport transfer because I’d heard horror stories about holiday companies stranding passengers.
I hoped EasyJet didn’t disappoint.
Thankfully, they didn’t, as they had staff members at the Arrivals to direct us to the car park where all the private shared transfers were packed.
Fewer than ten people were in the minivan, but I was the only one who dropped at my hotel.
Since I was the first to arrive, I waited 30 minutes for my fellow passengers.
This felt like forever because I’m used to finding my way immediately after landing.
I never have any reason to wait around the airport for anything.
After what felt like forever passed, the EasyJet staff member returned to inform us about our return transfer.
Return Transfer
While she was speaking, the text came in about the details of our return transfer, including the time for pick up.
On the day, we just waited outside the hotel, and the driver picked us up and dropped us back at the airport.
The entire journey took about thirty minutes and went very smoothly.
I wasn’t able to finally relax until we got to the airport.
Regarding the promptness, communication, and assistance of the driver for our bags, the entire transfer was seamless.
I would recommend it.

Hotel
After choosing the destination, the next deciding factor for me was the hotel.
I was visiting for my birthday, so I wanted to splurge.
I wanted to be close to the city centre and other historical landmarks to explore.
Despite having no plans to swim, I also wanted a balcony view of the beach if possible.
Finally, I wanted an in-house spa because I was long overdue for a massage.
Rather than an inclusive meal option, I paid for half board for breakfast and dinner.
Unlike some people, I get tired of eating.
I went with the four-star Blue Sky City Beach Hotel.
While I didn’t get a sea view even though I paid extra, I ended up with a rearview, which was mostly useless.
The food was decent. I could order room service, and most importantly, the massage from the spa was incredible.
For €85, I got a full body massage with face and body treatments. I was also able to use the Sauna for free.
Top Tips For Booking With EasyJet Holidays
EasyJet is still a budget airline that will try to get money off you at every turn.
So you need to pay attention.
So here are a few tips I picked up from this experience:
- A large cabin bag on board will cost you extra. The same goes for choosing a seat. Except you’re carrying a 30-40l backpack, check in any luggage you have, regardless of the size. With a 23kg allowance, you have more than enough for a week or two without paying for excess baggage.
- If you’re unhappy with the flight times, you can change it for a fee.
- Check Google for hotel reviews. It will help you narrow down your choices.
- Double-check the room options and ensure you’re okay with your choice before paying. Check the hotels’ website for more photos and other details. If you want a specific type of room the hotel offers, you can request an upgrade during check-in. But don’t hold your breath. They might be fully booked, especially during peak season. Don’t be like me and pay for a room with a rear view.
- If you can’t wake up between 8 – 10 am for breakfast, don’t bother. Otherwise, you’re wasting money. If you don’t eat as much or drink, go for half board rather than all-inclusive. The latter only makes sense if you’re a couple or a family with kids. Otherwise, it’s a waste of money, in my opinion.
- If you believe you’re overpaying for the package, try booking your flight separately and hotel directly with the hotel’s website. You might be able to save about £100-200. Transfers via public transport cost less than $20.
In Conclusion,
My first time with easyJet Holidays was impressive.
I probably won’t try it again now as I want to try other package holiday companies.
But one thing I’ve noticed is the quality of the hotels they have.
In the meantime, I’ll use their website as a search engine and book directly with the hotel for cheaper deals.
